AVIATION/ BOMB SCARE ON GOAIR A320 AT MUMBAI

GOAIR Flight 230 from from Mumbai to Delhi, India, was delayed today, due to a bomb scare. The A320 was waiting for pushback from Bay 6b at Mumbai Airport with 169 passengers and crew onboard, when a passenger suddently stood up and shouted "Bomb Bomb," creating panic among the other passengers. The cabin crew notified the flight crew who alerted air traffic control. All passengers and crew were immediately offloaded and the man who made the threat was taken away by security personnel. The aircraft was then checked by security and the bomb threat detection committee. They also carried out an anti-sabotage check, which lasted almost over an hour. The A320 was declared clear and safe at 11:15am, local time, and allowed to reboard passengers and depart for Delhi. A CISF Senior Commandant said that, "the passenger, who created the scare, has been handed over to the police for inquiry". The country is currently on high security alert in view of intelligence inputs that there could be terror attacks around Republic Day.
