AVIATION/ CIELO KING AIR CRASHES IN BRAZIL

All 6 people onboard a CIELO TAXI AEREO Beechcraft 200 Super King Air were killed when the aircraft crashed into a mountain in Brazil on Friday evening. The King Air was Non-Scheduled Domestic Service from Las Palmas to Goiania, with a stop in Brasilia. The flight from Las Palmas to Brasilia was without incident. According to media reports, the aircraft was about 11km from the Goiania Airport, and was on approach in heavy rains, when it disappeared from radar at 6:08pm. The flaming wreckage was quickly spotted from the air on the side of San Antonio Hill, also known locally as Hill of the Christ. Officials say all 4 passengers and both Pilots onboard, were killed instantly in the crash. All were found inside the wreckage, save for the Captain, whose body was located a short distance away. Officials would not speculate on possible reasons for the crash. An investigation has been launched by Brazilian aviation officials.
